PMC Secures Over $22 Million in Funding for Ohio Brownfield Remediation Projects

PMC and Parent Company, Thompson Hine, Offer Unparalleled Site Selection Practice

Project Management Consultants LLC (PMC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Thompson Hine LLP, has further enhanced its reputation for securing substantial funding for brownfield remediation projects across Ohio. The firm recently helped clients, in partnership with their counties and county land banks, obtain five brownfield remediation grant awards, amassing a total of $22,294,230, as announced by the state of Ohio on August 9 for the FY24 application round. These awards were distributed among PMC clients located in Cuyahoga, Franklin, and Geauga Counties.

Notably, PMC was instrumental in securing a $10 million award for a pivotal project in Cuyahoga County, which represents one of only three awards of this magnitude throughout the state. This achievement is particularly significant, as PMC clients have received 20% of the overall $106.9 million awarded thus far in this funding cycle, underscoring the firm’s strategic experience in navigating and acquiring environmental cleanup grants.

“We are immensely proud of our team’s dedication and strategic experience, which have been crucial in navigating the complexities of grant applications for our clients,” said Ken Kalynchuk, Director and Principal of Financial Services at PMC. “This recent success in securing a substantial portion of the state’s brownfield remediation funds is a testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering sustainable development and revitalization.”

This announcement emphasizes the firm’s successful track record of securing funding for brownfield remediation projects in Ohio and follows the grant awards in 2022 totaling over $21.5 million from the Ohio Department of Development for 10 projects in the state supported by PMC. Since 2022, PMC has helped clients secure over $43.5 million in brownfield remediation grants to repurpose vacant, underutilized brownfield sites into apartments, mixed-use developments, and new high-impact job creation projects.

PMC and Thompson Hine offer a full suite of services for brownfield redevelopment projects, including assisting with applying for cleanup project funding, securing financing for the redevelopment of former brownfield properties, and providing the legal services needed to close on complex transactions involving construction, real estate, environmental, and tax components. PMC actively pursues grants for brownfield redevelopment opportunities and works with property owners to remediate the sites and return them to productive use. PMC and Thompson Hine also collaborate to provide comprehensive site selection services, serving as legal and consulting partners to help clients find the right locations for their new manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, corporate headquarters, and mixed-used projects.
